Laura Stanfill recently hosted a giveaway on her blog for the latest addition to books called the flipback. As luck would have it, I won one! My copy was “Piece of My Heart” by Peter Robinson. Thanks again, Laura!
These books are SERIOUSLY amazing. I carried mine with me everywhere. From fishing, to shopping trips, even to church. (As a note, I didn’t read it during church. I read it in the car on the way to church and before the service started.)
And of course, I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures.

The reading experience was amazing, and I want more flipbacks. At first, it was difficult to manage the feel of it, but over time, it felt natural. And the ease of reading it is something that is more difficult with the size of a normal book.
And, my oldest niece adored it! She would grab it, and knowing my apprehension about her getting ahold of my books would said, “My hands are clean, and I’ll be very careful.” (She tends to stay sticky, so I make her be careful about dirty hands around my books. What is it about kids and being sticky? Anyway, I digress.) She loves books but loved this one more.
Also, the story was fantastic. Here’s what I wrote about it on Goodreads:
This book is really two stories in one. We follow two police officers working on two different cases. One in the nineties and the other in the late sixties, early seventies. The two cases intertwine, and the reader is chasing the murderers along with the police.
This book is a fantastic read. I was on the edge of my seat, trying to figure out who the murderers were.

I found the same thing–that after an initial adjustment, it seemed totally natural to read flipbacks, and the convenience factor was ultra high. I’ve read two flipbacks now and plan to post about my reading experience next week sometime.

I was glad to link to your series. It was what intrigued me to get one in the first place. (I was going to eventually buy one but, as you know, was lucky enough to win it! ;))
The books are so light. I would love to have every book in a flipback format. And to be completely honest, I much prefer the flipback over ebooks.
I can’t wait to read about your experience with them. 🙂

Fascinating that you prefer flipbacks over ebooks! I haven’t read enough ebooks to be able to judge, and I don’t have a Kindle or Nook. But certainly flipbacks are actual books, although their construction is innovative.

That’s the thing. Ebooks are convenient. Most books are heavy and can’t easily be carried around, but I can slip my tablet into my purse and carry it with me wherever I go. But the flipback is even better than a normal paperback and tablet or e-reader because of it’s smaller and lighter design. That’s just my opinion. What I do know for sure is that the flipbacks are AWESOME! 😉
