I’ve been spending more time thinking about my goals for this year. Aside from wanting to publish a few books of mine, I really haven’t put much more thought into these goals. (I refuse to call them resolutions.)
One of the women I follow on Twitter, Sandi Krakowski, posed a question the other day: “What’s your BIG audacious goal for this month??? ”
I responded, “To finish a book and edit another. To gain the courage to speak in front of my church about angels which was asked of me.”
As you may or may not know, I posted not too long ago on my Inspirational blog about being afraid to step into the calling placed on my life, and I touched on speaking. You can read the full post here (and I suggest you do so you can really get the feel of why the word courage is so important to me this month, this year really): http://emeraldbarnes.blogspot.com/2015/11/i-dont-want-to-be-jonah.html
I don’t like being afraid of anything, but the fact remains, I am scared of many things.
I’m scared of being a failure in my writing career. I’m scared of letting people down. I’m scared to speak in front of my church when God so obviously wants me to. I’m scared to put my heart out there for the world to see. I’m scared…
But Sandi’s post reminded me that I need to DREAM BIG! I need to step out there with courage (and faith) and know that God has my back. He wouldn’t have given me these dreams if He didn’t want me to fulfill them. I have to remind myself of that daily.
So this year, my word is COURAGE. I won’t be afraid of what my future holds. In fact, I’m going to go into it knowing that God is taking care of me. I’m going to have the courage to step out and step into this year knowing that it will fantastic, and no one can tell me otherwise. I will be more courageous.
The following verses are going to be my motto for this year. I particularly like Proverbs 31: 25 because of…
and she laughs without fear of the future.
What’s your word you’ll be focusing on in 2016?
I’m focusing on the word “champion.” Not just to be the best, but to champion the causes I feel passionately about, and who knows? Maybe I’ll gain some new passions along the way!

My word is positive. This words is so powerful because this will lead me to help others when they are down or need that voice that reminds us that no matter what it will all turn out . By having the faith that God is by my side through it all I will be able to keep the positive vibes that gets hard to do at times especially when all you see in the media and social networking can be so disturbing. Thank you Emerald you inspire us all and I wish you many blessings and have no doubt that you will have the courage to get it done xoxo!

My word is focused! It’s easy to get distracted by shiny objects and I have goals I need to hit that don’t need those distractions 🙂
