I’m also am running a paperback sale where my paperbacks are HALF PRICE via Createspace!

The Entertaining Angels series makes the perfect gift for anyone struggling with body image, self-esteem issues, depression, suicide, and self-harm. It gives people hope.

Reviews:

“Emerald Barnes took these words and showed the world her soul I believe and for that I am truly grateful because she helped me set that young girl inside of me who never felt good enough free. I believe this to be one of the hardest reviews I have ever written just because it truly bared my heart and soul right in front of me and asked me what I was going to do with it. I set it free.”

“The biggest message I received from this story is that no matter WHAT each of us are dealing with, there is a heavenly Father that loves us and angels are real and are sent to watch over us. We are NOT alone!”

“I’m so thankful for these books because even though I had this problem as a teen, doesn’t mean my demons have gone away. They are still here and they still talk, but this book shows me that no matter what, God is still here and He still loves me and He wants me to keep fighting and I’m not fighting alone.”

Hello. My Name Is…

First, let me preface this by apologizing for taking so long to write up a new blog post. My life has been one crazy ride after another, but all in a good way. I want to give you a few updates before going into what this post is about.

In the middle of September, I was asked to be one of the youth leaders at my church, which I accepted. Because, well, if you know me and my writing, you’ll know that I want to help make a difference in people’s lives, especially teens. I’ve felt a calling to work with teens in some way, and I know this was all God. Right now, though, my co-youth leader and I are only teaching a handful of teens, but I’m excited about the possibilities. We have room for growth, and I’m praying that it does just that.

Just last week, my 3rd nephew in the line of 6 nieces and nephews was born. He’s healthy and beautiful, and my heart is full. ❤

Also, I’ve been working on The Marked, which is coming along well. I just finished line edits. I’m not sure if this was mentioned on my blog, but Clean Reads has picked up that book, and I’m super thrilled to be working with them!

I’ve also been writing my next book The Healer. It’s been a difficult book to write, but that’s because the subject matter is so much unlike anything I’ve ever written. And I have to get the dates and backstory right or it won’t work. So I’ve been editing while writing, and it’s making the process slower.

Okay, now, on to what this post is about.

2000px-hello_my_name_is_sticker-svg

When I taught the first class to the small group of teens, I asked them this. What all have you been called? I wanted them to tell me negative identifiers that others, and themselves, had said about them.

We got the typical answers: fat, dumb, too tall, too short, too skinny.

Just like in my Entertaining Angels series, I turned it around and showed them what God said about them.

You’re beautiful. You’re perfect. You’re smart. You’re God’s. You’re loved.

Too often, we let the lies of the world, our peers, satan tell us who we are when we should be listening to what the Word is saying about us. What others say doesn’t define us. They shouldn’t at least, but we let them. We take these words and let them sink in until they become part of us, and that is when we start believing it about ourselves.

Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…”

What do you believe about yourself? Do you believe the lies? Have you given in to them? I have, and it’s something I regret. I don’t want that for any of you. I want you to know that you are beautiful, loved, and worthy.

God has a purpose for you, and you wouldn’t be here if there wasn’t some purpose for it. We can’t let the lies of satan and the world keep us from living up to our full potential.

You are loved! You are blessed! You are a Child of God! That is all that you should think, so when these lies come at you, knock them down and remind yourself who you are!

Here are some reminders!

1.) You were fearfully and wonderfully made! Psalm 139:13-14

Before we were born, God created us wonderfully. You’re wonderful! If God didn’t want you her, He wouldn’t have create you, but He wants you and He loves you!

Also see Jeremiah 1:5.

2.) You are loved! John 3:16

As we just said, God knew you before you were born. He created you wonderfully, and He loves you. In fact, He loves you so much that He sent His Son to earth as a human where His purpose was to die for you. Is there anyone you would die for? That–and more–is how much your Savior loves you.

3.) You’re an heir!

Romans 8:15-17; Galatians 3:13,14, 29

When you receive the Spiriat and are saved, you become God’s child. If you’re God’s child, then you are an heir! Whatever is God’s becomes yours including His authority and His riches! You are a princess (or prince) now! And just like your earthly parents (or someone who loves you like a parent), God wants to give you everything He has!

4.) You are worthy!

Luke 15:18-24

No matter how worthless you feel, how many mistakes you might have made, you are worthy. Just like the prodigal son, no matter what you’ve done, God will still welcome you back. You don’t have to be a servant because you will always be an heir, and God will always love you!

5.) You are precious and honored! Isaiah 43:4

Although God is talking about Israelites, once we are saved, we get those same promises that were promised to them. Once we become heirs with God, we become like the Israelites, and God has said that we’re precious and honored! That is evident by the love He has and continues to show us.

I just don’t want y’all to forget who you are. You’re an amazing human being and deserve to know that about yourself!

Delivered by Angels is here!

DbA Facebook header

As you may know, Delivered by Angels has been a long time coming. It was supposed to be published through my publisher, but they closed down. Then, I had to scramble to figure out the cover and everything else. My team was amazing, though, and things were quickly figured out.

I want to thank Becki Brannen, Heather Huffman, Amanda Gawthorpe (Editor), and Lisa Brown (proofreader) for helping me out so much while the book was at Vox Dei. They were huge supporters of the series from the get go! I miss you guys!!

My cover designer at Be a Purple Penguin was amazing, and I have to give her a HUGE thanks for helping me out. If you need a cover, please please please consider her! And I have to give props to Adam at http://bookinteriors.weebly.com for taking care of my paperback and ebook formatting. He’s a great guy. I suggest you consider hiring him as well.

Anyway, I’m super excited that it’s finally come together, only two weeks after the original publication date. And now, you can purchase your copy via Amazon! It’s available through Kindle Unlimited as well. Click on the photo to be taken directly to the link! Also, keep an eyes on my facebook page! Who knows what will be happening over there! *wink wink*

About the Book

Determined to escape her abusive father and drunken mother, Lexi Johnson turns to the blade to numb her pain, but it isn’t enough to end her misery. She’s convinced that not even God could save her now.

Roxy Taylor is the new girl in town, and Lexi doesn’t trust her, especially when she teams up with DJ Tucker to try and break down the barriers that Lexi has put in place.

Little does Lexi know, there are greater forces battling for her life, and as Lexi begins to open up to both Roxy and DJ, she’ll see that she isn’t alone in this world.

In the heart-pounding sequel to Entertaining Angels, everyone’s favorite angel, Zach Taylor, is back, and he’s there to make sure that Madison and Chase Sanders are on the path that God has chosen for them, a path that could deliver Lexi from the demons who want her soul.

**Delivered by Angels deals with depression, suicide, and self-harm. It’s meant to show people that they aren’t alone. If they’re feeling this suicidal, there is help. You can always call 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or you can reach out to local pastors for help. You can even submit a prayer request to me. You are not alone.

Upcoming news for my blog and books…

Hello lovelies!

There have been some things on my mind lately as I move forward from being underneath a publisher. And while some of you know what happened, some may not. So, I’ll reiterate what I’ve said before. Booktrope is closing as of May 31, 2016. My books will be off the market, and rights will come back to me. Will they be off the market long? Heck no! I plan on republishing them via self-publishing on June 1, 2016. You won’t be without them long. Now, it’s entirely possible that they will be unavailable before that as Booktrope closes everything out, but it won’t be for long. Like I said, they will be available on June 1 (or 2 depending on when Amazon publishes it).

So, that’s what I’m up to this week, prepping for next week’s transition. Is it weird? Yeah. I enjoyed being part of a community at Booktrope/Vox Dei (especially Vox Dei). It’s weird not talking to my project/book manager every day about my marketing strategy, etc. I miss your face, Becki!!

Now for the news about my blog. Some of you may know that I have an inspirational blog where I share inspirational pieces, mostly Christian devotional type posts, but I’ll be transitioning that over here. It’s getting a little difficult keeping up two blogs. I hope that you’ll all stick around with me. I’ll still be sharing my #loveyourself and #youarebeautiful posts, writing posts, guest posts, etc. I’ll just be adding devotional posts here.

And speaking of guest posts, I’m opening up my blog for guest posts in June. I can take on 3-5 guests. If you’re interested, contact me today!

Thank you, all, for sticking with me through my journey of ups and downs. We’re only going up from here!

Delivered by Angels Cover Reveal

Hey guys! We pause the #youarenotalone posts for one day to share my new amazing cover with y’all!

As you all may know, Delivered by Angels, is the second full-length novel in the Entertaining Angels series. It focuses on self-harm, depression, and suicide, which is the reason behind the hashtag #youarenotalone and for me to raise awareness about them.

One thing about this book is that it has truly opened my eyes to depression, suicide, and self-harm. It has forced me to understand these more, and it has made me want to share that God loves each and everyone of you – and I hope you never doubt that for one minute.

That being said, Delivered by Angels is a YA Christian paranormal fiction novel.

And what’s it about?

Alright. I know you guys are itching to see this beauty, and here it is!

#youarenotalone – Call for bloggers and writers

In (hopefully) May, I will be releasing Entertaining Angels Book Two, Delivered by Angels. Delivered by Angels focuses on a young girl who self-harms to escape the pain of living her life. You will see your favorite characters back, including Zach, Mads and Chase, but you’ll be introduced to new ones as well.

Here’s what it’s about:

As you may know, my Entertaining Angels books focus on teens who need help in some form or fashion. Book one is about overcoming self-esteem and eating disorders, and book two focuses on suicide, depression, and self-harm while book 1.5 focused on forgiveness.

While I’ve never personally self-harmed, attempted suicide, or have been clinically depressed, it’s an important topic for me to broach because I know people who have. I know that it’s a difficult place to be in, and I want to help in any way that I can. And God wants you to know that you’re not alone in your battles. This is why Delivered by Angels was written.

#youarenotalone

When God laid this book on my heart, I felt unqualified because I’d never personally experienced it. I didn’t want people to think that I was writing about something I didn’t understand, but God always qualifies the unqualified, and Delivered by Angels was created.

I’ve broached the topics the best that I can, and I have heard back from actual readers who have been self-harmers or suicidal telling me that the way that I handled the subject was how it truly was. And after writing the book, my eyes have been opened, and I want to bring light to the darkness that is depression, suicide, and self-harm.

Of course, each of my Entertaining Angels books are, in fact, Christian novels, and they deal with demons vs angels, Satan vs God, evil vs good, but depression, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts happen to Christians and those who don’t identify as Christian.

But there’s one thing that I realized while writing this book, whether you’re a Christian or not, you are not alone, and that’s why I am opening my blog up to bloggers, readers, and authors who have dealt with depression, suicidal thoughts, or self-harm or have helped others through it. If you have a story, if you want to shed light on the darkness and help others realize that they aren’t alone, this is your chance. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we can certainly make that work!

From April 1 – April 30, I will be posting guest posts on my blog, here about how you or someone you know has struggled with any of the above. #youarenotalone, and together we can rise above the stigmas and overcome the darkness.

Please sign up below.

I will also be posting weekly updates about the blog posts through my newsletter which you can sign-up for on my website.

Goals and a Writing Update

I’m not getting much done. lol I’m kidding. I’ve written a short story, started a new book, plotted out that new book (which is a HUGE deal considering I’m a glorified pantser and procrastinator), and I’m about to start edits on Entertaining Angels Book Two, Delivered by Angels (coming April or May of this year!!)!

tumblr_nsj161lzcz1qhub34o1_500

It’s been a busy 2016 for me so far, but I’m grateful for that. I could be busier (and if you need a proofread, hit me up. I need some work.), but I’m just thankful that I’m reaching my goals, slowly but surely.

See, by the end of the year, I hope to have finished writing two books and published two books, so that will be four (or five, if you add that short story in the mix somewhere) books of mine that will be published or finished and ready for editing. Those are my goals. Goals sometimes get lost in the mix, but that’s okay. I just want to make sure that someone holds me accountable. I suppose I’m holding myself accountable by writing this post…

I also hope to branch out with the #loveyourself and #youarebeautiful hashtags. What does that mean? I’m not entirely sure yet, but I want to do more with it, and I want to get you involved. Because, we’ve established this before, it’s more than a hashtag, it’s a way of living. And I have some ideas on how we can spread this message.

If you see my posts on any of my social media sites, these hashtags are turning into inspirational/motivational messages, but I want to know what they mean to YOU. So, I have a few ideas brewing in my mind regarding what to do regarding that. I wish I would have thought about this sooner, especially for the month of February since it’s the “month of love”, but loving yourself isn’t exclusive to one month. It’s for every month, every day, every hour.

Okay, so this post wasn’t meant to be solely about loving yourself, but it’s important to remember.

I won’t keep you guys, but I wanted to give you a quick update about what’s going on. Keep your eyes peeled for what’s coming up involving that hashtag and more!

To be one of the first to know about what’s coming up, consider joining my street team, newsletter, or follow my blog!
